Redevelopment of the hospital
Their biggest requirement for funds is to support the major redevelopment of two-thirds of the hospital’s site.
Why do They need to redevelop?
Great Ormond Street Hospital is battling with buildings that are nearing the end of their useful lives and must urgently be replaced.
Without this redevelopment, advances in technology and treatments will not be so readily translated into real improvements in the care of sick children.
Medical equipment
Technological and medical advances allow them to continue to improve the quality of care they can provide for sick children. In order to do this, they must ensure they have the very best medical equipment.
Medical equipment is expensive. Providing medical equipment suitable to be used for young people, children and often babies, is particularly expensive. However, thanks to their supporters, the charity is able to provide the hospital with leading edge equipment so that their exceptional doctors and nurses can improve diagnosis and treatments and continue to provide children with world class care.
Reasearch
Since Great Ormond Street Hospital opened in 1854, ground-breaking research has always played a crucial part in our ability to offer a chance of life to the very sick children in our care
Patient and family support
The welfare of their patients is their primary concern. There can be no better care and reassurance than for a child to know that their parent is right beside them.It is vital that they help children and families cope with what can inevitably be a stressful time when visiting hospital.
