Grunge hair styles are back! Those of you who loved Nirvana and colour-change t-shirts in the early '90s may be pleased to know that grunge is making a comeback.Tough-looking girls with messy hair were big news on the catwalks of New York Fashion Week, so it could be time to ditch the uber-groomed look in favour of a more casual style this spring. Hair expert Mandy Durkin of Saks had some tips on how to achieve grungy hair to perfect the look. To start with, grungy hair works better on looser, grown-out styles, so maybe you should avoid it if you've just had a fringe cut in. And don't think that you'll have to walk around with unwashed hair. "Grunge doesn't mean unclean hair, it means unkempt - even though it has taken an hour to make it look that way," said Mandy, recommending dry shampoos and salt sprays like KMS Hairplay Sea Salt Spray to achieve a textured look. For the ultimate tribute to the '90s, the expert said brave girls could even - oh, dear God - opt for an undercut. We're all for retro tresses, but we think we'll give this particular hairdo a miss, thanks! |
