The old wives' tales of what not to use on your hair 9

The old wives' tales of what not to use on your hair
Even though there are dozens of great hair products available from companies like Pual Mitchell and KMS, everyone has heard an old wives' tale about a product that is supposed to turn your hair into that of a goddess.

However, trichologist Philip Kingsley told the Daily Mail that they could be doing more harm than good, even though your grandma may swear by them.

To start with, there's beer and vodka. Both are apparently used by some people to add body, but the expert warned that the latter will leave your locks dehydrated and the former will make you stink like a brewery.

Although lemon juice was once a staple product for lightening hair and used on holiday to enhance the blonde, Philip said that it may turn it brassy and brittle.

And while cola could add volume to your tresses, the hair guru pointed out that it is also likely to leave it feeling sticky.

We don't know about you, but none of these methods sound very appealing to us! Why not stick to specially-formulated shampoos and other treatments - there's sure to be one for you whether your hair's dry or oily, curly or straight at www.hairandbeautyconnection.co.uk
