St. Tropez is a safe, non-toxic chemical reaction of key active ingredients in the top layers of the skin that cause it to change colour. All St. Tropez products are renowned for their natural and pampering results because St. Tropez formulations have combined these active ingredients with a soothing aloe vera base that helps prevent the drying so often seen with other self tanning products.

When you’re looking and feeling your best, you want to smell good, too. Yet the unmistakable aroma of all self tans (which is caused by the action of DHA on the skin) is very difficult to hide. For years St. Tropez have tried to find a way to effectively mask or disguise the smell, so St. Tropez are delighted to announce that they have finally gone one better – with brand new Aromaguard™*.

With a fresh, light fragrance, Aromaguard™ doesn't just mask the smell - it's a ground-breaking technology that actually sees off that distinctive aroma (the smell is reduced by a minimum of 70%) and replaces it with a subtle fragrance that works in harmony with the skin to leave a soft, subtle scent that’s lovely on it’s own and light enough to layer under your normal fragrance if you prefer.

The science

St. Tropez formulations contain a unique combination of two completely safe active ingredients that work together to give a gorgeously natural looking colour that fades naturally, too.

The first ingredient, dihydroxyacetone (or DHA for short) is a colourless sugar that interacts with the amino acids in the surface layer of the skin to produce a temporary colour change – your tan. This is then combined with Erythrulose, a naturally moisturising ingredient derived from raspberries, that works in the same way as DHA but it develops more slowly, giving you a smoother colour that lasts longer and fades more evenly.
